 orleans historical society

While most of us simply enjoying soaking in the beauty and history of Cape Cod, at least one group is working to preserve it for generations to come.  The Orleans Historical Society takes an active interest in ensuring that locals and visitors never forget the historical attributes of the region.

With a new executive director in place, the Orleans Historical Society hopes to move the town’s history into the future.  In late 2015 the society announced that Gail Nessell Colglazier would take on a leadership position starting in 2016.  Colglazier is the new executive director, and along with new and established board members she will likely lead the establishment of a master plan for the community to store and showcase historic relics in the future, as

nauset beach orleans

One of the most popular places on the Cape, Nauset Beach is a true treasure for both locals and seasonal visitors.  The public beach is known for its surfing and swimming, complete with fantastic spots for sunbathing, too.  While the ocean water is sometimes cool, it certainly doesn’t deter the crowds, in search of fantastic waves and miles of sand.  It’s also an excellent location for families to spend a fun, leisurely afternoon.

While Nauset Beach shares a similar name with Nauset Light Beach, the two are entirely different.  Nauset Beach includes 10-miles of white sand and surf, stretching from Orleans to Chatham.  It is a popular location for swimming and boogie boarding, while surfing is permitted between the hours of 9am-6pm along the non-protected

strong island chatham ma

To truly enjoy the natural beauty and untapped resources of Cape Cod, you’ll want to keep a trip to Strong Island in Chatham on your list of “must-dos”.  This beautiful island  sits a mere 900 feet or so offshore, surrounding hikers with rich foliage and undisturbed wildlife.  The eastern edge of the island, especially, is full of some great sites to see.  The northern end of the island is where you will find a fantastic sheltered, white sand beach.  The island also contains forests of oak and pine trees.

Available for private and public use, Strong Island is partially owned by the Chatham Conservation Foundation.  The owner gave a large number of acres to the Foundation in the mid 1970s, and then the Foundation purchased additional acreage.  Seventy

Other pros of purchasing an existing home are that they
